COOLROOM PANELS

AUSTRALIA'S HIGHEST QUALITY COOLROOM PANELS

At Total Refrigeration, we only use high density Polyurethane Panels when building our Coolrooms and Freezers. They are:

  • Lightweight
  • Strong
  • Easy to clean
  • Durable
  • Hygienic

Polyurethane is the highest rated insulation in the world with an R-Value of R-7 to R-5 per inch.

It also has one of the lowest moisture permeability ratings of any product manufactured for the building industry and is resistant to most counter chemicals.

Polyurethane vs EPS (Expanded Polystyrene)

R-Value

Polyurethane has an R-Value of R-7 to R-8 per inch while ESP has a value of R-2 to R-5 per inch.

You will find it in most refrigerators, freezers and even in you esky’s and coolers.

The walk-in coolers and freezers that we manufacture in Adelaide and throughout Australia are made of polyurethane.

Resistance

With the potential problem of mould and mildew, moisture resistance is a very important factor.

Polyurethane has one of the lowest moisture permeability ratings of any product with a permeance rating EPS is 2.0 to 5.0.

This difference in a high humidity area would warrant another moisture barrier for EPS panels, and in calculating R-values, some EPS manufactures use these additional moisture barriers in their calculations.

Density

The density of a product will determine the strength of it.

The polyurethane that we use has a density of 2.2lb while ESP only has a density of 1lb.

Strength is a very important characteristic so polyurethane is a much better choice.

Chemical Resistance

EPS reacts violently to petroleum based products. For example: PL 400 and liquid nail polish will literally burn through it.

While polyurethane is resistant to most counter chemicals.
